Richard
Harris DuBou, M.D., is a board-certified plastic surgeon
dedicated to providing his patients with high quality, personal care.
Dedicated as well to public and student education, Dr. DuBou has written
several papers and given presentations on the subject of plastic and
reconstructive surgery, maintains a position on the active teaching staff
at the University of Louisville, and served as Lieutenant Commander of the
U.S. Public Health Service at the Marine Hospital Department of Surgery in
Galveston, Texas from 1971 to 1973.
After graduating cum
laude from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology,
Dr. DuBou obtained his medical degree from State University of New York (SUNY)
Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. While in school, he
pursued studies in neurology at the Mayo Clinic, child psychology at the
Hamstead Clinic in London, the Yale University of Medicine, and
neurosurgery at Cornell University.
Over the next ten
years Dr. DuBou completed extensive post-graduate training across the
country, beginning with an internship at Presbyterian Hospital - Pacific
Medical Center in San Francisco, California. He completed residencies in
general surgery at Tufts University - New England Medical Center in
Boston, Massachusetts and the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in San
Francisco, and in plastic surgery at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San
Francisco and at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. He
also held a fellowship in hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery
under Dr. Harold E. Kleinert in Louisville.
